01 Elevators & Lifts

Vertical Platform & ADA Compliant Lifts

An ADA-compliant platform lift provides safe, reliable access for individuals using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility devices. Users travel on a secure platform designed to bridge elevation changes such as entrances, stages, mezzanines, or between floors. Platform lifts are a practical accessibility solution for commercial, public, and residential spaces. They often require less construction and space than a traditional elevator while providing a cost-effective way to improve accessibility and ease of movement.

02 How It Works

Drive type and what installation takes.

  • Vertical platform lift

A screw drive or hydraulic mast raises an open platform straight up. Unenclosed at short rises and enclosed with a shaftway at taller ones. This is the standard answer for porches, decks, raised entries, and stages, and the one most often used to make an existing building accessible.

  • Inclined platform lift

A folding platform rides a rail bolted to the stair stringer or wall and follows the stair, including turns and intermediate landings. When folded it leaves the stair usable. It is the option for buildings where there is no room beside the stair for a vertical mast.

  • Code and ADA compliance

Professional Lift Solutions provides ADA-compliant platform lift solutions designed and installed in accordance with applicable ASME A18.1 requirements and local authority guidelines. Our team reviews project conditions, platform size, controls, landing access, electrical needs, and code requirements early in the process to help ensure the lift is properly planned before installation begins.

  • What installation involves

Installation of an ADA-compliant vertical platform lift typically begins with confirming the site is ready, including the proper concrete pad or landing surface, required structural support, clearances, electrical power, and communication requirements where applicable. Once the site is prepared, Professional Lift Solutions sets and secures the lift tower or rail system, installs the platform, gates or doors, controls, safety devices, and required electrical connections. After installation, the unit is adjusted, tested, and prepared for inspection to ensure it operates safely and in accordance with applicable ADA accessibility requirements, ASME A18.1 standards, manufacturer specifications, and local authority requirements.
