01 Elevators & Lifts
Home Elevators
Professional Lift Solutions proudly serves and installs Garaventa Lift residential elevator systems, helping homeowners add safe, reliable, and attractive access between floors. A private residence elevator is designed to carry two to four passengers in a finished cab that can be customized to complement the home's interior.

02 How It Works
Drive type and what installation takes.
Hydraulic drive
A hydraulic elevator uses a pump to move fluid into a cylinder, which raises the cab between floors. This style of elevator is commonly used in residential applications and is known for providing a smooth, steady ride. It can also accommodate heavier cab designs and allows the elevator to be lowered during a power loss through the valve system. Hydraulic systems typically require a machine room or closet-sized machine space located near the hoistway, usually within approximately 20 feet, depending on the manufacturer's requirements and project layout.
Traction and counterweight drive
A traction elevator uses a motor, typically located at or near the top of the shaft, to move the cab with the help of a counterweight. This design does not require a separate machine room and does not use hydraulic fluid, which can make it a practical option for homes with limited space. Because the primary equipment is contained within the hoistway, the only external equipment typically needed is the controller, which is located outside of the hoistway in an approved serviceable location.
Winding drum drive
A winding drum elevator uses a drum machine to wind the hoist rope or cable, raising and lowering the cab between floors. This type of system is commonly used in residential applications where a compact equipment layout is needed. Because it does not require a counterweight run, it can be a practical option for retrofit projects or homes with limited available space. The equipment layout and controller location will depend on the manufacturer's requirements, approved drawings, and the specific conditions of the home.
What installation involves
Once the elevator location is finalized and the jobsite is ready, our crews will set the rails, land the cab, wire the controller, and complete final adjustments. Typical installation takes approximately two to five working days after the unit arrives, plus the manufacturer lead time, which accounts for the majority of the overall project timeline.
